Background:
The Renters Report Card working group was struck by members who participated in the Dolores Huerta Foundation's tenant organizer training this past summer. Following the training, VTU membership voted to endorse the City We Need Platform at a general meeting on July 28th, which based on the platform put forth by 2017 municipal by-election candidate Jean Swanson's platform, who the VTU membership also endorsed

The City We Need platform's tenant-centred policies became the basis through which the Report Card working group developed four questions for all candidates. On September 15th, over 30 VTU members volunteered to help grade candidates responses to the questions, which were amalgamated in the report card above.

Note: The Renters Report Card was graded by tenants from across Vancouver and does not constitute a VTU endorsement. The VTU has not made any candidate endorsements as of the date of publication.
