The Rental Task Force is coming out with recommendations at the end of the month and the new city council is set to have its first meeting on Monday, Nov 13. Both levels of government can pass laws that will outlaw renovictions and protect tenants.
Join VTU in solidarity with Vivian Baumann, who is fighting her renoviction in court on the morning of the 9th, the fearless tenants of the Berkeley Tower in West End, and other 'renovictim' tenants from across the city.
We will hear tenants stories about being renovicted, expose companies that are hired to renovict low-income and vulnerable tenants before they can know their rights, and demand City and the Province to respond to this crisis by putting in measure to ban renovictions.
This rally is organized on the unceded Coast Salish territories of the sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people, we are fighting for housing justice that challenges government inaction, oppressions, and displacement. No more evictions on stolen native land!
