Uniting Renters in Grandview Woodland

Co-Hosted by the Grandview Woodland Area Council & the Grandview Woodland Renters' Action Group

Monday night Grandview Woodland area tenants & homeowners gathered at the Britannia Community Centre for a presentation and discussion with the Grandview-Woodland Renters Action Group (GWRAG) and the Vancouver Tenants Union.

The event was hosted by the Grandview Woodland Area Council (GWAC) - a group of residents who meet monthly to discuss issues in their neighbourhood.

GWRAG, who presented first, initially formed last summer as a break-away group from GWAC, whose Board is largely comprised of home-owners, many of whom are also landlords. The group meets monthly and has been collecting stories and concerns from renters in their area. They have expressed interested in working in solidarity with the VTU on issues that affect their neighbourhood.

After the presentations there was a lively, if not slightly tense, discussion between tenants and the homeowners/landlords about the housing crisis which affects both groups in different ways.
